Hi I am Emma. Wife, mum of 2 and creative mind. I love my role, running my own crafting sessions for the people of Plympton, Plymouth and the surrounding areas. The question I am often asked is “Is this your job?” My answer “yes and I LOVE it!!!” The next question is always, “how did I get into it?” So here is a bit about me and how EM-MAgination Craft came about.
Before EM-MAgination Craft
I returned to work as a Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS, after my first maternity leave, in April 2021. My biggest baby was born at the start of the first lockdown in March 2020. I really struggled returning due to the huge changes the world and NHS had seen after Covid. After some time away from work with my own mental health difficulties, I had some space to think and think about what I wanted for myself and my growing family. EM-MAgination Craft was born.
Why Art and Craft?
It is now widely known that art, craft and being creative is wonderful for our mental health. More and more people now take time for themselves and understand the importance. I feel my own lived experience of both child development and mental health worries, along with my creativity and joy of working with people, puts me in a great position to support all ages to access creative art and craft sessions across Plymouth.
I love living my EM-MAgination Craft dream of having some more flexibility and time for my young family and the new challenges running EM-MAgination Craft brings. Anyone who knows me will tell you that never in a million years they ever thought I would leave the security of being employed to take the leap of faith to do something so different and running my own little crafting empire!
